Pumpkins!

The Grade 1's have been learning all about pumpkins in Science. We have been writing about them in Language Arts and using the tear technique to create amazing pictures in art! They were so excited to work in small groups to carve Jack-O-Lanterns on Friday. They were really proud of the end result.

Working Hard!

The Grades 1's have been working hard on their morning writing. They are remembering to use an uppercase letter at the beginning of their sentence and finish with a period. We are starting to sound out words and use our word wall words as well.

In science we explored with loose parts today, sorting transparent and opaque items. We had fun figuring out which items we could see through and which items we could not.

Happy Thanksgiving / Prayer

We hope all families enjoyed their Thanksgiving Weekend!

A prayer was sent home today in the students agenda for them to fill out and return to school. Please help them with this but allow them to do the writing themselves. Simple sentences are best as they may get an opportunity to read their prayer for the school during morning announcements. Thank you for your support with this.

Self Portraits

The Grade 1's have been working on their drawing and colouring skills in Art. We have been moving away from drawing stick people to more realistic and detailed drawing. When we colour, we talk about what colours make sense in our picture and to cover all the white spaces when we are colouring things in.

Step by step we created these beautiful self portraits, proudly displayed outside our classroom!
